Examples include multi-city resilience to large-scale natural disasters, intelligent transportation systems that work in any city, and regional air quality improvements through coordinated local action. NIST’s GCTC establishes multi-team SuperClusters to take on grand challenges too big for any single city team to tackle. Supported by the IoT Group at Intel, partner companies Westminster Security, K4Connect, and EntryPoint Networks work with MAGIC to configure, test and demonstrate cutting edge technologies which benefit both residents and staff. The Smart Home demonstration sites are managed by Target Community and Educational Services, which provides residential services to adults with intellectual disabilities. Working with local health care providers, the project’s goal is to demonstrably improve the health status of the residents using in home telemedicine technologies. WESTMINSTER, MD – Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory (MAGIC) is proud to announce the MAGIC Smart Home Project has recently joined the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) GCTC Health SuperCluster. The MAGIC Smart Home Project is a demonstration of telemedicine, sensors and in-home intelligence, connected by software defined networking and utilizing the Westminster Fiber Network, to create the fundamental unit of a truly Smart Community.
